What’s new for the 2023 Jeep Wrangler?
A new Freedom trim level joins the lineup for a short period, but otherwise the 2023 Jeep Wrangler sees few changes.
This lineup consists of short- and long-wheelbase versions, all of which wear the latest version of Jeep’s World War II-proven styling. They’re not especially practical or comfortable inside, but they are well laid-out and are playfully designed.
A huge range of engines starts with a 285-hp V-6 and works its way up through torque monsters of a 2.0-liter turbo-4 and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6.
The best buys here are either the 4xe with its 20-mile-plus all-electric range or the 392 Hemi, which will blow the doors off of any rival—for now, at least. Predictably, off-road ability impresses in any form. Rubicons offer the most flexible array of four-wheeling bits, but any Wrangler stands ready for dirt.
Fuel economy hits the low 20s for most versions, though the Rubicon 392 slides to just 14 mpg combined. The 4xe boasts a so-so 49 MPGe but a full charge delivers easy commuting miles for many buyers.
Inside, the Wrangler has stiff, unsupportive seats and a cramped cargo area, though it ticks all the boxes for four-wheeling ability.
The Wrangler comes with just the basics when it comes to safety. You’ll pay extra for automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control, which come packaged together.
How much does the 2023 Jeep Wrangler cost?
The base Wrangler starts at $32,500 or so, but good luck finding one at that price point. Four-doors cost a few grand more, and any model with daily driver-style comforts will easily crest $40,000.
The smart buy here is the Rubicon for around $47,000, or just north of $50,000 with popular options.
Where is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler made?
In Toledo, Ohio.
