2024 Chevrolet Trax (Chevy) Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, and Photos
What kind of vehicle is the 2024 Chevrolet Trax? What does it compare to?
The Trax revives a small-car nameplate and gives it slippery SUV-like styling cues, but it’s a front-drive hatchback with no available all-wheel drive. It compares with vehicles like Chevy’s own Equinox and Trailblazer, as well as the Kia Soul and Seltos and the Hyundai Kona.
Is the 2024 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

We haven’t driven it yet, but the attractive Trax has an attractively simple lineup, good fuel-economy estimates, and a high degree of technology standard. We’ll rate it as soon as we can test one. (Read more about how we rate cars.)
What’s new for the 2024 Chevrolet Trax?
It’s an entirely new vehicle, much larger than the Trax Chevy sold prior to 2022. Based on the compact Trailblazer, the 2024 Trax has a longer wheelbase and is bigger overall—it’s nearly the equal in size of the Chevrolet Equinox crossover.
Handsomely styled, with a look that sits comfortably alongside Chevy’s upcoming Equinox EV without aping it, the 2024 Trax wears a mesh grille banded to its nose with a lattice that also hosts a small Chevy bowtie, and splits its LED headlights from thin pipes of LED running lights. From the side the Trax hits strong RAV4 and Blazer notes, with at least a two-pack of sculpting at its sides. The swoop atop its rear fenders gets capped by pointy LED taillights that gesture back toward thick haunches. Inside, the elements of other Chevy interiors—round air vents, angled pods with touchscreens and digital gauge clusters—knit together better than in any other application.
Where the Trailblazer sports a 155-hp 1.3-liter turbo-3 and a 9-speed automatic transmission in top trims, the Trax gets a 137-hp 1.2-liter turbo-3 with 167 lb-ft of torque, coupled to a 6-speed automatic. Chevy applies active noise cancellation to damp its drivetrain sounds. Chevy would not confirm or deny whether a Trax EV is in the works.
By the numbers Chevy says the 2024 Trax sits 4.0 inches lower than the 2022 Trax, while its wheelbase stretches by 6.0 inches and its overall length by 11.0 inches. That pegs the 2024 Trax at 106.6 inches in wheelbase and 178.6 inches long; by Chevy’s figures it’s just 0.7 inches shorter in wheelbase and 4.5 inches shorter than the aged gas-powered Equinox. No specs on cargo space have been confirmed.
No crash tests have been performed either, but all Trax hatchbacks come with automatic emergency braking, active lane control, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitors, rear parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control can be fitted to more expensive models.
